The Mediterranean Diet is widely accepted to be one of the healthiest ways to eat and it's definitely the most enjoyable dietary approach for me.
It's based around lots of fruit and vegetables, healthy fats such as olive oil, nuts and seeds, oily fish and avocados, good quality proteins, like eggs, fish, chicken and small amounts of red meat, full fat milk and dairy foods like natural live yogurt and cheese and unprocessed carbohydrates like wholegrain varieties of starchy carbs and lots of beans, pulses and lentils.
But it's also about more than just what you eat. The Mediterranean Diet is about enjoying your food by taking your time over it and eating with others when possible rather than at your desk, while you're driving, or in front of the TV šŗš! It's also about making sure you find time to relax and undertaking regular exercise that you enjoy šš„šæ Oh and did I mention that moderate alcohol intake is part of it too? š·
Sounds good right? If only we could pinch their weather as well as their diet! ā š
